What weather today? Nice and hot!
Jeff's off at an "educational seminar" for 3 days.
Did some errands this am. Cabinets are being ordered today for the house. Finalized all the plans with the design lady. Very exciting.
I have officially registered Zachary for school in our soon to be new hometown of Newburyport. Then went to Emma's new school and they have a little bit of a different system. Just need to bring her school-proof of residency, birth certificate and immunization records. No packet to fill out at home. So I will finish that process on Wednesday as Emma has her 6 year check up tomorrow.
Shot up to Seabrook and picked up some shorts and bathing suits for the kids. TJ Maxx has some great bargains. Nice stuff, brand names-CHEAP!!!! And I always scout the clearance racks.
So I figured while I was out I would just go pick Emma up at school. She gets out at 1:30 pm. While Im waiting for her Zachary's grade is lining up to go in from recess. Their lining up and out the Principal comes walking through. I see Zachary approach him and start talking. The principal put up his finger to tell Zachary to wait a minute while he finishes speaking to another child. Zach did great waiting his turn. Then I hear Zachary say "Mr. Hoyt is my sister in trouble?" Mr. Hoyt says something and kind of points Zachary in the direction of the door.
So Im sitting there and Mr. Hoyt comes over and sits down with me. He says "have you heard what happened." Well No! So he says that there were 6 children at lunch today that were over heard talking not so nice about the custodian. The custodian is a rather large man. Mr. Hoyt explains to me that he graduated with this fella and he has been the same size since high school. Mr. Hoyt explained to the children that it's not nice to make comments, insults or say anything about someone else that may hurt their feelings. The custodian is unaware of what took place. Thank God!
So Emma's teacher comes out and I simply say "I heard already." She says well she wrote you a note. I get into the car and ask to see the note. Emma says "No way you have your made face on." My mad face? So Im given this note I can't make heads or tails out of. About the size of a large index card with all these letters on it. The only thing I can actually get is I soryi. The rest is a bunch of letters that she spelled out herself. Emma told me her teacher asked her how she would like it if somebody picked on her brother. Emma said "she would be sad." So I ask Emma how she found out she had to go the Principals office? She says I was called over the loud speaker. So I ask why did you think you were going to the office. She says "I thought I was going to snack and chat with Mr. Hoyt." Well almost No snack but lots of chatting!!!
So as we leave the school I say the same thing. What if it was Zach the kids were picking on. She says again "I'd be sad." She says "But mom Zachary says mean things to you all the time." Yes Emma he does. But that is Zachary's way of expressing his anger. Not appropriate in the everyday world. But sometimes in the world of Autism we need to make those exceptions. So now how do I explain or reason that she is right--but this is ok-when it's really not. She lives in a world that is black and white and most of Zach's world is gray!!
So in the end the six children called to the office--there was only one female!!! Eight days of school left and she gets in trouble now.

Your mad face! Love it... sorry this happened, and I'm sure she understands how it would hurt someone's feelings, but sometimes in the heat of the moment kids just seem to forget. I know mine have done it. It's a lifelong skill to master.
Could Zach teach Alexis how to wait her turn. Great Job Zach! I love the blog, but I think you should have called it Spectrum Living.
