The past two weeks here in Mass were so hot! Zach and Emma had two great weeks at summer camp. I have to tell you this was a blessing in disguise. A few year ago (3) out doctor in Boston told us that we had to find Zachary something to do in the summer. He has his summer program with his school which takes up a few weeks but the other weeks need to be filled.
So a friend suggested the summer camp in Bradford at the Cedardale Health and Fitness Center. The camp is called Cedarland. The staff here and the woman that runs go above and beyond any place I have seen. So this was Zach's third year and Emma's second year. They loved it.
Zachary being at this camp for two weeks each summer has been able to do things he may not have staying home with me. He does rock wall climbing, miniature golf, swimming lessons each day, raquet ball, karate and so on. Each year the coordinator and I chat about where we think Zach should be a far as age groups. Im thrilled she cares and just isn't throwing him in somewhere and he gets lost.
But each year he seems to connect with one of his counselors. These counselors are all high school or college age. So for them Zachary is a wealth of knoweledge and probably would be able to help them study for their SATS. But anyways this year Zachary connected with Jeff. He is very quick to tell you not his father Jeff.
The last day of summer camp they had a talent show. Well Emma informed that morning half way to camp that she was supposed to bring her music with her. She was told rather quickly that I just got out of work and can't help her. I told her to pay attention and see how it goes--then she can start preparing for next year.
So I pick them up and Zach tells me he sang in the talent show. Oh ok??? What did you sing. He said Jeff brought me in my favorite song on his Ipod and wrote the words for me. Jeff also sang with him. Below I will put the song.
I guess he heard this from a godzilla movie. The name of the song is " I stand alone". The band I believe is actually from our area. Lawrence???? The name is Godsmack. Im guessing by the music that this is something I must have passed on to him. I like it--I admit it!
So Zach and his counselor got on stage and sang. Emma informed me that Zach needs to work on his voice. I told her straight out he gets all the credit in the world for getting up there. Maybe 5 years ago this wouldn never of happened. To be up in front of people singing is a great accomplishment along with being able to deal with the loudness. Zach has many sensory issues he has overcome as he's gotten older.
WAY TO GO ZACH!!!!!!

Wow, totally awesome! And I love to hear about Jeff-not-his-dad and kids like him that the campers connect with.
