This has been a busy week between working, kids having field day, end of the school year, Emma's recital and whatever else has been thrown in.
I went to both field days for an hour. I worked the nights before them so an hour was about all I could stand.
Both kids are officially signed up for school in Newburyport. Zachary had an appointment on Thursday at the Upper Molin Elementary for a visit. Visit went very well they had all kinds of history stuff around the school which thrilled Zach. He gave us a history lesson while taking the tour. He will start their summer program in August.
Zachary had a play on Friday morning. This was probably his favorite play he's done since starting school. This was "The Thirteen Colonies." It was educating and funny at the same time. When they sang about the Boston Tea party everyone was pelted with a tea bag from the kids in the play.
It's very appropriate that Zachary was Samuel Adams. Zachary got right up on stage rattled out his lines and was so proud. Every song that was sung Zachary stood out front of his section acting out the song. Very entertaining! At the very end of the play Mrs. Cavalier allowed Zach to sit on the floor in the front with her. Next thing you know Zach is on stage with half of someone elses cosutme on (the red jacket) and he is singing and dancing. Dancing through the kids-doing some real funky moves front and center of the stage. Alls I can say "Oh my god!!!!" I was laughing so hard that the tears started.
Tears started and they kept rolling!!! It was very overwhelming! I sat there reflecting back to the days when he wouldn't step foot in that gym without ear protectors on because he was so sensitive to the noise. Or the days when he didn't want to be in front of people. Or the year he changed his lines and I wanted to crawl under a rock as everyone laughed.
This year was great! For all those that know Zachary in that school were able to see how far he has come. Mrs. Barnaby whom Zach refers to as "The Queen" commented on how relaxed he was. I think she's right! This play was right up his alley and it was on his terms or his subject where he is comfortable. But he really got into it.
Several people approached both Zachary and I after the play to tell us how proud they were of him. His two aides for the past two years were both so excited. Both of these women have worked so hard with Zach. I greatlty appreciate them both. One of the thanked me for allowing her to be a part of Zach's life. And what a difference he has made on her life. How working with Zachary has made her look at a lot of things differently.
The past 4 years for Zach at Cashman have been and will always be special. He had a great team starting in Kindergarten right up through 3rd grade.
Thank You!

I was able to see a small part of the play, which fortunately included Zach's part. It is amazing to see how far he has come. He is happy and I am very proud everyday that I see him in the halls. Will miss you all next year!
Thank you! We will greatly miss all that have worked with us and helped us out. And you happen to be one of them!
That was SO awesome to read. I know you have had a lot to deal with, and that makes the accomplishments and the good days all the sweeter. Thanks for sharing that story. And keep on dancing, Zach!
I'm hoping I get to post this comment this time. This is the 3rd time I've written it. I have no technolgy savy!!! Erica, thank you so much for sending me your blog. I love to read blogs too. I actually get a bit excessive ... like checking them daily! My daughter has been in New Zealand since Valentine's day so I check hers all the time. Also, my neice just had a baby and she set up a blog so we can see his progress, they live in Utah.
I can't believe I won't be seeing Zach in the halls next year! And I won't have the chance to have Emma in my first grade class. But I'm happy for you, your house is gorgeous. Please post more pictures! It looks like a dream house!!! Our loss is Newburyport's gain. Oh, well. At least we can stay in touch through your blog.
Have a great summer. Hi Zachary and Emma! I loved getting my "Hi Mrs. Scholtz"es everytime I walked by Emma's class! Can't wait to read the next installment! Kathy Scholtz
